All fairly new to the Mazda Road to Indy race series, the four young drivers of the Wisconsin based team, Felipe Donato, Timothy Paul, James Dayson and Andrew Hobbs, performed well all weekend, taking time to learn the track as well as the race cars.

Paul, Hobbs and Dayson in the IndyCar Fan Village

They say once you get the first victory, the rest come much quicker. For ArmsUp Motorsports that old adage appears to be true. Just one year after scoring their first SCCA National Championship Runoffs gold medal in the Formula Continental (FC) class Jerry Szykulski repeated Revere Greist's feat with a dominant performance in the 2012 version of the Runoffs. Szykulski paced two of the three qualifying sessions before going on to the race win in his Rotary Systems backed Van Diemen. Joining Szykulski on the podium was ArmsUp Motorsports driver Brian Belardi who raced to a third place finish in the annual Fall event. Jim Victor took the third ArmsUp entry to a sixth place result after starting from the ninth position.

The ArmsUp Motorsports team celebrates Runoffs Gold for the second straight year.

Biangardi Equals Season Best Finish in Dramatic Fashion on the Streets of Baltimore

ArmsUp Motorsports driver Luigi Biangardi equaled his best finish of the season in the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda with a dramatic fourth place finish in race one of the double header weekend. The narrow concrete lined city streets of Baltimore provided the backdrop for a wild finish to the race along the city's harbor. Running in the sixth spot as he entered the final chicane Biangardi narrowly missed a flying control arm and tire assembly, after heavy contact between the fourth and fifth place drivers, by pinning his car between the wall and the damaged fourth place car to claim the position as he crossed the line. The hard earned fourth place result was the finale to an up and down battle which saw Biangardi, in his Inject-It/Gulfstream Properties/Slick Locks/Chicago Indoor Racing car, race from eighth on the grid to his fourth place finish. James Dayson continued his development in the USF2000 category by running an error free weekend to claim two top-ten finishes in the National class.

Luigi Biangardi used every bit of avoidance skill he had to come home fourth in Baltimore.

The ArmsUp SCCA Club squad has seen a busy couple weeks with the team in action at Motorsports Park Hastings (MPH) in Hastings Nebraska two weeks ago and back to Road America this past weekend. Jerry Szykulski was the lone entrant for ArmsUp in the Formula Continental division in Nebraska and he proceeded to make mincemeat of the track record at MPH. Within the first ten laps on track the Minnesota driver was below the track record and ended the weekend by resetting the track record by over four seconds below the previous mark. In the process Szykulski picked up two more poles and two more race wins as he continues to dominate the SCCA Formula Continental National class. One week later John Dickmann continued his string of strong runs scoring a win and a second place finish at Road America in the SCCA Double Regional event.

Jerry Szykulski is the new Formula Continental track record holder at Motorsports Park Hastings.
